Cowboy MCP 1.7.0: a redesigned settings page, one-click Add to Claude, and Beaver Builder and SiteOrigin support
This is one of the biggest Cowboy MCP releases yet, and one we have been excited to ship for a while. The settings page has been rebuilt from scratch, connecting Claude now takes one click, and two of the most popular page builders join the toolset. Every change your agent makes in them can still be undone.
A settings page that gets out of your way
Cowboy MCP grew a lot over the last few releases, and the settings page grew with it. In 1.7.0 we rebuilt it around five tabs: Connections, Activity, Logs, Settings, and About.
- Connections shows every app and API key in one table, with when each was created and when it was last used. Change what a connection is allowed to do, or revoke it, from the menu on its row.
- Activity is where the undo journal lives. Filter it by connection, by status, or by text, and see at a glance which undo reverted which change.
- Settings saves from a single bar at the bottom of the page and tells you when something hasn't been saved yet.
- Confirmations happen right on the page instead of in pop-ups, and the whole thing works on a phone and in right-to-left languages.
The Connection Doctor now reports its results in your language too. The report you copy for a support thread stays in English, so whoever answers can read it.
Add to Claude, in one click
Connecting claude.ai or Claude Desktop used to mean copying a link, finding the connectors screen in Claude, and pasting it in. Now there's a button.
Open the Connections tab, pick claude.ai or Claude Desktop, and click Add to Claude. Claude opens with your site already filled in. Check the address, click Continue and Add, approve the sign-in on your own site, and you're done. A connector added on claude.ai shows up in the Claude desktop app as well. If you own a Team or Enterprise organization, a second button adds the connector for everyone in it.
The button appears on public HTTPS sites, which are the only ones Claude can reach. Local sites keep the Claude Desktop bridge they already had. See how to connect WordPress to Claude for the full walkthrough.
Beaver Builder
When Beaver Builder is active, your agent can list the pages built with it, read a page's layout, and replace it. Before saving, a dry run shows exactly which rows, columns, and modules would change. It can also browse the available modules and their settings, and edit Beaver Builder's global settings. Every save goes into the undo journal, so you can ask for a bold redesign of the homepage and take it back with one request if you don't like it. More on the Beaver Builder tools.
SiteOrigin Page Builder
SiteOrigin Page Builder users get twelve tools. Your agent can rewrite a layout in one go or change it row by row and widget by widget. It can also apply one of the prebuilt layouts, browse widgets and their settings, adjust Page Builder settings, and switch on Widgets Bundle widgets when a layout needs them. Everything is saved through SiteOrigin's own sanitizer, which always strips scripts and other unsafe HTML, and every change can be undone. Editing needs Page Builder 2.36.0 or later. More on the SiteOrigin tools.
Also fixed
- Undoing a post change no longer strips backslashes from page-builder data stored in post meta.
- The connection approval page no longer shows a PHP deprecation notice on sites with debugging turned on.
Update
Cowboy MCP now reaches up to 203 tools, still through the same two gateway tools, so your agent's context stays small however many you have. Update from your WordPress dashboard like any other plugin, or install it from WordPress.org. The full 1.7.0 changelog is there too. If something doesn't work the way you expect, tell us in the support forum. We read every thread.
